KUALA LUMPUR: The government does not plan to dispose of all vehicles over 15 yeas old because it does not yet have a suitable mechanism for doing so, Deputy Transport Minister Jelaing Mersat said today.

The government would also have to get the views of non-governmental organisations and the public before disposal of all old vehicles could be enforced, he told the Dewan Negara.

Although use of these old vehicles was allowed, the road transport department and police were ensuring that they were road-worthy, he said when winding the debate on the motion to thank Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin for his royal address.

Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Heng Seai Kie said that 16 of the 25 ministries and 12 of the 52 government departments had set up child care centres at the work place.

She said that three ministries and 19 departments shared child care centres with other ministries.
